titleOfInvention Improvements in plastic compositions
abstract 309,913. British Celanese, Ltd., (Assignees of Schneider, G.). April 17, 1928, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Acts]. Plastic compositions containing organic cellulose derivatives.-Cellulose acetates or other organic substitution derivatives of cellulose having high viscosity characteristics, is employed in the production of plastic compositions. The viscosity of a. solution of 6 grams in 100 gm. of solvent such as acetone, should exceed 200, and is preferably above 600, as' determined on an Ostwald viscosimeter, and compared with the viscosity of glycerine taken as 100. Derivatives specified are cellulose acetate, formate, propionate: methyl, ethyl. and benzyl cellulose : plasticizers or softeners mentioned are tripheny phosphate, tricresyl phosphate, diethyl phthalate dibutyl tartrate, acid amides; volatile liquids such as acetone, methyl-ethyl-ketone, methol or ethyl alcohol, benzene, chloroform may also be employed. In an example 100 parts of high viscosity cellulose acetate, 70 parts of plasticizer, and 35-100 parts of volatile solvented are worked up in the usual way.
