titleOfInvention Process for the manufacture of 1.8-naphthoxypenthiophen compounds
abstract 300,771. Carpmael, A., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). Oct. 25, 1927. 1:8-Naphthoxypenthiophen and its nuclear derivatives are produced by heating the corresponding 1: 8-naphththioglycollic carboxylic acid in aqueous solution or suspension in a closed vessel. An electrolyte such as sodium chloride is preferably present. According to examples. 1:8- naphththioglycolliccarboxylic acid and also its monobrom derivative, obtained by brominating in acetic acid solution, are heated in an autoclave in the presence of water. 1: 8-Naphththioglycollic-carboxylic acid nuclear derivatives are produced from the corresponding 1-amino-naphthalene-8-carboxylic acids by transforming them into xanthogenic esters, saponifying and condensing with monochloracetic acid. The parent acid may also be halogenated.
