titleOfInvention | Improved manufacture of rubber compositions |
abstract | 287,445. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., (Assignees of Sebrell, L. B.). March 19, 1927, [Convention date]. Indiarubber, preserving.-Reaction products of croton aldehyde and amines such as toluidines, xylidines, naphthylamines &c., are used as antiagers for rubber. Examples are given of rubber compositions containing respectively croton aldehyde and naphthylamine, and the product obtained by reaction of croton aldehyde with aniline hydrochloride. The latter substance is prepared by mixing equal molecular proportions of aniline and hydrochloric acid, cooling, adding a little water and then croton aldehyde. The mixture is then refluxed for from 4 to 6 hours and finally neutralized and steam distilled to remove traces of the raw material and volatile by-products. |
