titleOfInvention The manufacture of new indigoid dyestuffs
abstract 286,359. Carpmael, W., (1. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). Dec. 1, 1926, Samples furnished. Indigoid dyes are produced by condensing 8- halogen-1 :2-naphthisatins, which may contain further substituents such as chlorine, bromine, or the nitro group, or alpha-derivatives thereof, with the usual indigoid dye components such as oxythionaphthene, oxindole, indoxyl, acenaphthenone, alpha-anthrol, alpha-oxyanthranol, alpha-naphthol, or carbazole. The products, which may be further halogenated, dye from the vat in blue-grey, violet, olive, &c. shades. According to examples, dyestuffs are prepared from the following components :-(1) 8-chlor-1 : 2-naphthisatin chloride (made by treating the 8-chlor-1 : 2-naphthisatin of Specification 286,358 with phosphorus pentachloride) and 4-methyl-6-chlor-3-oxythionaphthene ; (2) 5 : 8-dichlor-1 : 2-naphthisatin (Specification 286,358) and 2 1-naphthoxythiophene ; (3) 8-chlor-4-brom-1 : 2-naphthisatin chloride (made by treating the 8-chlor-4-brom-1 : 2-naphthisatin of Specification 286,358 with phosphorus pentachloride) and N-acetylindoxyl ; the product may be improved by halogenation. Specifications 8530/08 and 8531/08 also are referred to.
