titleOfInvention | Process for the production of substantive dyestuffs of the stilbene series fast to alkali |
abstract | 263,192. Chemical Works, formerly Sandoz. Dec. 19, 1925, [Convention date]. Stilbene dyes. - Substantive dyestuffs of the stilbene series, fast to alkali, are obtained by treating with oxidizing agents the dyestuffs obtained by condensing dinitrostilbene- or dinitrodibenzyl-disulphonic acid with aminoazo comrounds. Similar dyestuffs are obtained by treating with oxidizing agents the dyestuffs obtained by condensing the dyestuffs produced. by the action of caustic soda on p-nitrotoluenesulphonic acid (Curcumine S, Sun yellow, or Naphthamine yellow G) with aminoazo compounds, or the latter dyestuffs may be first oxidized and then condensed with aminoazo compounds. In examples (T the dyestuff obtained by condensing dinitrostilbene-disulphonic acid with metanilic acid-azo-m-amido-p-cresolmethylether according to the example 5 of Specification 19807/07 is oxidized by boiling with sodium hypochlorite in caustic soda solution; the solution is neutralized with hydrochloric acid and the product is salted out, (2) the dyestuff obtained by condensing dinitrostilbene-disulphonic acid with sulphanilic acid-azo-a-naphthylamine according to example 1 of Specification 19807/07 is oxidized with chlorine in boiling caustic soda, solution, and (3) the dyestulf obtained by condensing Curcumine S with amidoazotoluene sulphonic acid according to Specification 22555/09 is oxidized with calcium hypochlorite. The products give clearer shades which are faster to alkali than those obtained with the unoxidized dyestuffs. Specification 3994/87 also is referred to. |
