abstract A composition comprises a crosslinked single-ion conducting polymer (SIC) and a second polymer. Also claimed is a composition of a single-ion conducting polymer with a neutral conjugated polymer. The compositions are used in metal batteries or metal ion batteries as electrolytes of anode protection layers. The SIC is formed by reacting LiAlH4 with 1H,1H,11H,11H-perfluoroi-3,6,9-trioxaundecane-1,11-diol. The secondary polymer is preferably poly[(9,9-di-n-octylfluorenyl-2,7-diyl)-alt-(benzo[2,1,3]thiadiazol-4,8-diyl)].
