abstract |
A hand-held sprayer 1 having: a nozzle assembly 20 for directing a spray of atomized fluid; a fluid storage 12; an electrochemical flow reactor 50 having an inlet in fluid communication with the fluid storage 12 and an outlet in fluid communication with the nozzle assembly 20, the electrochemical flow reactor 50 being arranged to cause an electrochemical reaction in an input fluid from the fluid storage 12 and produce an output fluid; a pump 14 arranged to pump liquid from the fluid storage 12 to the electrochemical flow reactor 50; and a controller 18 arranged to control the electrochemical flow reactor 50 so as to provide a predetermined concentration of an active agent in the output fluid. There is also a method of disinfecting a surface, including the steps: supplying salt water to an electrochemical flow reactor 50; controlling the reactor to form a predetermined concentration of hypochlorous acid at an output from the reactor; atomising the hypochlorous acid formed in the reactor; and directing the atomized hypochlorous acid to the surface. |
