abstract A malodour reducing or counteracting composition comprising activated carbon at between 96– 9.9 wt% of the composition and at least one malodour‐neutralising compound selected from the group comprising a terpene, a terpenoid and an aldehyde. The or each malodour‐neutralising compound being capable of neutralising one or more malodour molecules through chemical reaction with the malodour. Preferably the malodour‐neutralising compound is present in one or more plant essential oil, preferably lavender oil. The activated carbon may comprise charcoal such as wood or bamboo charcoal. Also provided is a malodour reducing or counteracting product comprising an odour permeable container housing the activated carbon and the at least one malodour‐neutralising compound. The container may be a gas permeable pouch or bag. There is also a method of reducing or counteracting a malodour by exposing the composition to a malodour.
