Solid cosmetic compositions comprising Component 1 and Component 2. Component 1 comprises at least one of: a corn, potato, wheat, or tapioca starch fraction, a cereal flour, glucose, sucrose, fructose, or maltose. Component 2 comprises: 0.1-15 % cationic surfactant, preferably cetrimoinum or behentrimonium; 10-45 % polyhydric C2-C6 alcohol, preferably 1,2-propylene glycol, 1,3-butylene glycol, dipropylene glycol, glycerol, and diglycerol; 10-45 % saturated or unsaturated, branched or unbranched C8-C30 alcohol, carboxylic acid, or salt thereof (fatty alcohol, fatty acid, or salt thereof), preferably coco, lauric, myristic, palmitic, stearic, behenic, oleic acid/salt and/or coconut, lauryl, myristyl, cetyl, stearyl, behenyl, or oleyl alcohol; and 1-20 % of a starch fraction, modified starch, or a starch derivative, preferably derived from corn, potato, rice, wheat, or tapioca starch, amylose, amylopectin, dextrin, or hydroxypropyl starch phosphates. The composition is used by soaking, emulsifying, or moistening the composition with water, rubbing between the hands, and distributing onto hair. Component 1 may be coated, impregnated, sprayed, rolled in, or printed with component 2. Component 2 may be layered between two layers of component 1 or enveloped by component 1. Component 2 may be a porous body which is converted into an emulsion when contacted with water. |
