titleOfInvention Cryogenic cooling system with vent
abstract A cryogenic cooling system 1 has a vessel 20 extending along a longitudinal axis and configured to receive a sample probe along the longitudinal axis. A vent 15 extends along the outside of the vessel to provide a pathway for a flow of gas from vent inlet to a vent outlet in communication with an external environment. The vent also includes a pressure relief element to open and close the pathway based on the pressure within the vessel such that when the pressure of a gas inside the vessel exceeds a safety threshold the pressure relief element is opened to allow a flow of said gas from the inside of the vessel to the external environment. The system may also comprise one or more cooling members like heat exchanger 14 thermally coupled to the vessel and have the vent inlet located along the vessel to maintain a predefined temperature.
