Underwear 70 for wearing around the waist has one or more biosensors and a transmitter for transmitting sensed data to a unit 91 for processing and possible onward transmission to a smartphone or the like for interpretation and display. The biosensor detects at least one characteristic of a bodily secretion that is symptomatic of a medical condition or health of a user. The characteristic may be temperature, pH, flow rate, viral, bacterial, prolactin, triiodothyronine, thyroxine, protein or iron and the bodily secretion is preferably menses or urine. The underwear may use a passive RFID tag for wireless transmission from an onboard memory. The biosensor may use a semiconductor transistor and may be removable from the underwear. It may include a dermal sensor for sensing a characteristic of the skin such as temperature or pH, or heart activity (ECG). The underwear may release a medicament in response to the readings. Antennas 86 may be woven into, or printed onto, the underwear material. |
