An aerosol provision system 100 comprises: a substrate 110 comprising aerosol generating medium, the substrate 110 including a first surface 112 and a second surface 116 facing the first surface 112; a heating means 120 arranged to face the second surface 116 of the substrate 110; and a movement mechanism 130 which enables rotational movement of the aerosol generating medium relative to the heating means 120 such that portions 114 of the medium are presented to the heating means 120 for heating, wherein the aerosol generating medium is rotated around an axis at an angle θ to the first surface 112. The movement mechanism 130 may further enable linear motion of the heating means 120 and/or the aerosol generating medium along an axis A between the heating means 120 and the first surface 112, wherein the linear motion may be prior to the rotational motion. The movement mechanism 130 may further comprise an indexing system enabling indexed motion of the aerosol generating medium. A motion monitoring system may also be provided, comprising a detector for detecting movement information. Different portions 114 may be heated for different time periods and/or at different power levels. |
