titleOfInvention X-ray imaging systems and methods, and methods of manufacture of Collimators for use therein
abstract An x-ray imaging system 10 for use in methods of x-radiography comprises: an x-ray source 101; a detector 13 comprising an array of sensors 15; and a collimator 105 comprising an array of channels 109, the collimator being disposed proximal to the x-ray source such that an object imaging space 4 is defined between the collimator and the detector array. Each sensor in the array is arranged to receive x-rays 111 passing through a predetermined one of the collimator channels and, preferably, there are equal numbers of sensors and channels. Also disclosed are methods of manufacturing a multichannel collimator in which: a plurality of foil layers (717, Fig. 6), each having an array of holes, are stacked and bonded to form a laminated collimator body (707); or where the collimator body (307, Fig. 4) is formed around a plurality of space-holding members (308) that define the array of channels (309) through the collimator.
