abstract | The panel 100 has a plurality of apertures or through holes (104, Fig. 2A) and at least one protrusion extending transversely from each of a front and rear side of the panel. The panel may be wood or plastic, such as OSB, PVC, polypropylene, nylon, epoxy etc. and may include inorganic material such as glass or carbon fibre, or calcium carbonate, and may be 2-40mm thick. The protrusions may be frustoconical pins or anchors (103, Fig. 2A). Also claimed is a door having the panel sandwiched between front and rear skins 201, 202. The pins may interact with profiled elements 203 of the skins to locate it within the door, and may serve to anchor the panel within the interior of the door, which may also be filled with a PU or phenolic foam. The foam may also extend through the apertures to entirely fill the remaining interior space of the door. The panel may be primed to aid adhesion to the foam. |
