A process and a device for the purification of waste gas |
abstract |
Waste gas containing carbon compounds and nitrogen oxides is purified in a regenerative post-combustion system comprising at least two regenerators A-C filled with heat accumulator bodies 7a-7c and connected by a combustion chamber 10. Waste gas is supplied to a regenerator A and heated, carbon compounds are oxidised in the combustion chamber 10, and a reducing agent made of a nitrogen-hydrogen compound is added so that nitrogen oxides are reduced in the combustion chamber 10. A catalytically active heat accumulator layer 6a-6c in a lower part of the regenerator reduces remaining nitrogen oxides to nitrogen using a nitrogen-hydrogen compound in the regenerator. Clean gas is drawn off through another regenerator B. There may be three regenerators, with one regenerator A heating waste gas with clean gas drawn off a second regenerator B, while a third regenerator C is purged. The catalytically active heat accumulator layer 6a-6c may be a honeycomb block with prismatic channels. The process is particularly suitable for treating waste gases produced during the manufacture of cement clinker. A device for purifying waste gas is also claimed. |
