abstract A morphing blade or wing element 14 includes a plurality of ribs (20, figure 31) rotatable and/or slidable with respect to one another. The blade or wing may comprise a control rod (42, figure 33), which may be operated to rotate the ribs. In some embodiments, the ribs are adjacent and substantially without gaps between them, to provide a substantially smooth surface. A motor such as a servo motor (38, figure 33) may be used to actuate the ribs, and deform the wing or blade. A method of assembling such a wing or blade is also disclosed.
