Treatment of conditions associated with impaired glucose control |
abstract |
A method of treatment involving inhibition of signalling by the greater splanchnic nerve may lead to an improvement in oral glucose tolerance. Treatment is applied by means of transducers applying a signal to the greater splanchnic nerve. The device may also monitor physiological parameters, such as blood pressure, insulin, glucose, plasma catecholamine, tissue catecholamine and plasma HbA1c. The device may apply an alternating current waveform between 1 and 50 kHz. The transducers may be electrodes on a bipolar electrode cuff. |
