Titanium oxide and sulphate; iron sulphate.- The solution obtained by treating titanium ore such as ilmenite with sulphuric acid is artificially cooled to below room temperature, for instance to 5‹ to -5‹ C. to separate crystals of ferrous sulphate. The solution is then hydrolyzed without dilution, and on cooling to room temperature no separation of ferrous sulphate occurs. The mother-liquor may be used again after concentration. |
