A method of reducing the arsenic concentration in an aqueous solution comprising undesired arsenic, which method comprises contacting the aqueous solution with a complex of Formula I: wherein M1 and M2 are V, M, Ga, Cu, Ni, Co, Fe or Zn; a and b are 0 or 1, provided that a+b is at least 1; Q is a negatively charged counterion; n is 1-5; X1 is OH, O, SH or S; L1 is La1-C(O)NR, La2-C(O)OR, La3-NRC(O), La4-OC(O), La5-O or La6-NRO; La1-a6 are optionally substituted C1-5alkyl; R is H or optionally substituted C1-5alkyl; Linker is a polyethylene glycol (PEG) chain with 1-10 repeating units, a C1-16polyamine chain or a C1-16 alkyl chain; Z is a solid support; L2-L7 are optionally substituted C1-3alkyl; and Het1-Het4 are optionally substituted 5-14-membered heteroaryl groups with at least one N atom. Preferred solid-supported complex (IV) is also claimed. Preferred complexes utilise a PEG linker and a polystyrene solid support. |
