abstract |
Various nutritional compositions are disclosed that are useful in pet food formulations: a composition comprising a prebiotic and yucca schidigera extract; a composition comprising a prebiotic and a beta glucan; and a composition comprising yucca schidigera extract and a beta glucan. The prebiotic preferably comprises at least one oligosaccharide selected from the group consisting of mannanoligosaccharides and fructooligosaccharides. The blend of fibres and plant extract in the compositions modify the bacterial and chemical composition of faeces in animals to reduce odour and improve consistency. The compositions also modulate the bacterial population to benefit the pets immune system. |
