abstract | A method of producing an antifouling sign assembly 30 for mounting on a structure to be deployed subsea. The structure comprises a substrate 32 comprising indicia or markings 33, a layer of silicone-based transparent antifouling material 31 having a minimum thickness of 1mm; the substrate and the layer are joined such that the indicia or markings of the substrate are visible through the layer. The method also comprises fixing an attachment means to the substrate and/or the antifouling layer, the attachment means enabling mounting of the antifouling sign assembly to the structure. The silicone layer may be prefabricated by calendering, extrusion, compression moulding, dispersion coating, liquid lamination, ribbon flowing, liquid moulding or internal casting; and the joining with the substrate may be a continuous process using a system of rollers. A primer or adhesive may be applied between the substrate and the layer. The silicone-based transparent antifouling material may be a liquid silicone rubber (LSR), a high consistency silicone (HCS) or a room temperature vulcanising (RTV) silicone composition. The substrate may be metal, HDPE, PEEK, PET, PVC or PVC and it marked by etching, engraving or printing. |
