Enabling Encapsulation in Networks |
abstract |
Users enter tunnel endpoint configuration information, possibly using a command line interface, at an edge configuration device 204. The configuration information may be a virtual local area network identifier (VLAN-ID or VID) to service identifier (I-SID) mapping. The configuration information is transmitted to the edge server device 202 in a message, possibly using a link layer discovery protocol (LLDP) format. The edge server may set up a IEEE 802.1 ah Mac-in-Mac encapsulation tunnel using the information. SPB is used to create paths for the tunnels through the SPB cloud network and may use intermediate system to intermediate system (IS-IS) format messages for control plane signalling. |
