A composition comprising at least one viscoelastic polymer, wherein the at least one viscoelastic polymer backbone is covalently cross-linked by means of at least one radical scavenger. Also disclosed is a method for producing a composition comprising at least one viscoelastic polymer crosslinked in the manner defined above. The compositions have use as synthetic synovial fluid and in the treatment of arthritis. Typical examples of viscoelastic polymer include hyaluronic acid. Examples of radical savengers include hydroxylflavones. |
