abstract |
A solid electrolytic capacitor 33 comprising: an anode body; dielectric overlying the anode body; adhesion coating overlying the dielectric; and solid electrolyte overlying the adhesion coating, wherein: the adhesion coating contains a discontinuous precoat layer containing a plurality of discrete nanoprojections of a manganese oxide and the anode body comprises a powder with a specific charge of about 70,000 µF*V/g. Also disclosed is a method of forming said solid electrolytic capacitor, wherein the precoat is formed by contacting the anode with a solution containing a manganese oxide precursor, pyrolytically converting the precursor to form the discontinuous precoat layer. Wherein the powder may comprise tantalum and the dielectric layer may comprise tantalum pentoxide. Wherein the manganese oxide precursor may be manganese nitrate and the manganese oxide may comprise manganese dioxide. |
