abstract A luminaire has a pcb 12 mounting a plurality of LEDs, a moulded plastic part 13 comprising optical elements for the LEDs that covers and protects the pcb 12 and the LEDs, and a heat sink 11 formed from a single casting that acts to support the pcb, LEDs and the moulded plastic part 13. The heat sink 11 has a bowl structure open at one end and is formed from a plurality of ribs, and the pcb 12 is mounted at a closed end of the heat sink. The structure of the heat sink 11 provides a robust functional housing that can contain additional components such as driver circuits.
