abstract |
Marine geophysical equipment has polyurethane-based material at least partially covering a surface. The surface may be the jacket of a cable such as a marine seismic or electromagnetic streamer, or a seismic or electromagnetic ocean bottom cable. The surface is at least partially coated with a suspension medium and with a biocide. The biocide may comprise particles of copper or copper alloy. The suspension medium may be a solvent such as N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP). The suspension medium may be mixed with the biocide before it is applied to the surface 54,55, or the suspension medium may be applied to the surface and then the biocide applied to the suspension medium-coated surface 56,67. The method may include curing the coating 58 with a curing agent such as water. |
