Transmitting payload data modulated onto Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) symbols via a cable network. A downstream signal comprises one or more data profiles carried by different communications resources and determined in accordance with a receiver profile. Physical layer signaling data may be transmitted as a preamble of a scheduling interval to identify the downstream communications resources of the data profiles. |
