titleOfInvention | Capacitor assembly comprising multiple solid electrolytic capacitors housed within a cavity filled with inert gas |
abstract | A capacitor assembly 100 that is capable of achieving a high capacitance and yet remain thermally and mechanically stable under extreme conditions; the capacitor assembly 100 comprises a housing 122 comprising an enclosed and hermetically sealed cavity within which a plurality of solid electrolytic capacitors 120a,120b are housed adjacent to one another; the cavity also containing an inert gas, thereby limiting the amount of oxygen and moisture supplied to the solid electrolyte of the capacitor elements 120a,120b; each capacitor element contains an anodically oxidised, sintered porous body and an anode lead 6 that extends in a lateral direction from the porous body; the assembly also comprises an anode termination 167 and a cathode termination 165 with electrical connections to the anode leads 6 and solid electrolytes of the capacitors. The use of multiple capacitor elements increases the surface area over which the elements are connected to the housing. |
