abstract | 248,994. Lilienfield, L. May 30, 1925, [Convention date]. Addition to 231,806. Yarns &c., treating with liquids, gases, and vapours. - The process of the parent Specification for the finishing, sizing &c. of yarns &c. with alkyl, aryl and aralkyl substituted cellulose thiourethanes such as are prepared by the process described in Specification 231,801, [Class 2 (ii), Cellulose &c.], is modified by using as the agent for precipitating or coagulating the thiourethane, a strong acid, for instance, 25-65 per cent sulphuric acid, 45-70 per cent phosphoric acid, 20-35 per cent hydrochloric acid, and 70-100 per cent acetic acid. To the acid coagulating bath there may be added another precipitating agent such as acid, a neutral salt, for example, glauber salt, sodium bisulphite, ammonium sulphate or zinc sulphate, or an organic substance such as alcohol, acetine or glycerine, or a sugar such as glucose. The temperature of the bath may vary within wide limits; in the case of 50 per cent sulphuric acid, temperatures above or below room temperature may be employed, for example, from 30 C. to 0 C., or even lower, for example to -10 C. Specification 248,246, [Class 2 (ii), Cellulose &c.!, l, is referred to. |
