abstract | A wet electrolytic capacitor comprising a casing with an opening and a sidewall, where an electrochemically active cathode material is provided on at least a portion of the sidewall; an anode is positioned within the interior of the casing, the anode being formed of a porous body with a dielectric layer formed on the surface, the anode having an anode lead extending therefrom; an electrolyte is provided in electrical contact with the anode and cathode; a lid 50 sealed to the opening of the casing, the lid 50 having an orifice 59; a hermetic seal 54 is positioned in the orifice 59; and a liquid seal 70 that coats a substantial portion of the internal surface 62 of the lid 50 and hermetic seal 54, where the liquid seal 70 contains an insulative sealant material. Also disclosed is a capacitor as above, where the casing is cylindrical; the anode is formed of tantalum, niobium or an electrically conductive oxide; and where the anode lead passes through the orifice 59. |
