An organic electroluminescent element comprises an anode and a cathode having therebetween a light emitting layer, wherein the light emitting layer comprises a guest compound having a substructure represented by Formula (C) and a host compound represented by Formula (1): where Rarepresents an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an aromatic hydrocarbon group, an aromatic heterocyclic group or a heterocyclic group; Rb and Rc are each hydrogen or a substituent, A1 represents a group of atoms necessary to form an aromatic hydrocarbon ring or an aromatic heterocycle, M is Ir or Pt, and wherein Ra1is an aromatic hydrocarbon ring, R1and R2each are an aromatic hydrocarbon group or aromatic heterocyclic group, R5is hydrogen or a substituent, and n1, n2 and n5 are each 0-4, provided that n 1 and n2 are not simultaneously 0. |
