titleOfInvention Water-tight submersible enclosure for electrical equipment with multiple openings
abstract A water-tight submersible enclosure for electrical equipment may be suitable for IP68 classification. The water tight submersible enclosure 10 (or 60 figs 7-13) has one or more openings for access to the interior or to one or more respective internal compartment (18, 20 74, 76) and one or more respective closure members 14, 16 (64, 66, 68) for closing and seling the said opening. A bore seal arrangement 40 (42 fig 3) (82, 84, 86 figs 8,10) is provided with a male portion on the closure member that enters the female portion of said opening to seal against the opening edge, the male portion may have a recess carrying a resilient seal element (34 fig 3). A rectangular embodiment is shown with two adjacent compartments, where the adjacent closure members are arranged to overlap (see figs 4-6) at their common edges (44, 46). Fixing means, such as threaded fasteners 28 may hold the closure members to the enclosure. A second embodiment (figs 7-13) shows a generally tubular enclosure which may have openings at both ends (72, 74) and may have an opening (90) on the side of the tubular portion receiving a closure member (68).
