abstract |
Dye compounds are represented by formula (I) (wherein R I is C1-6 alkyl; D I and D 2 are independently C1-6 alkyl or an aromatic ring (system); X is an aromatic ring (system) or a linear sequence of two such entities and Y is an aromatic ring (system); where each ring (system) is further defined in claim 1). These dipolar dyes contain pyrrole-based conjugate spacers between arylamine donor and a 2-cyanoacrylic acid acceptor. These dye compounds are suitable for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC). The dye compounds may have high molar absorption coefficients, so that the DSSC manufactured by the dye compound of the present invention can have good photoelectric characteristics. The dye compound may be (E)-2-cyano-3-[4-(5-(4-(diphenylamino)phenyl)-1-methyl-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)]phenyl)acrylic acid or (E)-2-cyano-3-[5-(N-methyl-2-(7-diphenylamino-9,9-diethyl-9H-fluoren-2-yl)pyrrol-5-yl)thiophen-2-yl]acrylic acid for example. |
