abstract |
A delivery composition for water-insoluble pharmaceutical active ingredients, the composition including the water-insoluble pharmaceutical active ingredient(s), a water miscible solvent(s) and amphiphilic co-solvent(s), and a mixture of hydrophilic and hydrophobic non-ionic surfactants. The water miscible solvent preferably comprises ethanol and/or propyleneglycol and/or polyethyleneglycol. The amphiphilic co-solvent preferably comprises diethylenglycol monoethylether and/or 1,3-dimethylisosorbide and/or N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone. The mixture of non-ionic surfactants may comprise a mixture of one or more polyoxyethylene glycolated natural or hydrogenated vegetable oils and one or more transesterification products of natural vegetable oil triacylglycerides and polyalkylene glycols. Upon dilution in an aqueous medium, this formulation spontaneously forms a dispersion of non-ionic surfactant nanoparticles. |
