titleOfInvention Interactive toy with VoIP connection.
abstract The apparatus comprises a web server 12, a VoiceVXML gateway 8 and a user interface device 2 (PC and peripheral device) comprising means for establishing a VoIP connection with the VXML gateway and also comprising a web browser 10 for viewing web content served by the web server, the apparatus being arranged such that the serving of dynamic web content by the web server is controlled by user interaction with the VXML gateway, via the VoIP connection. Embodiments include a peripheral device connected to the interface device, comprising means to respond to each of a plurality of physical objects (e.g. toy) being engaged or brought into close proximity therewith, to allow a user to interact via a VOIP connection, with a different respective VXML application. Aspects of the invention include the user interaction being an audio/DTMF tone, button push response to a visual/audio or game prompt transmitted from the VXML gateway. The different audio prompts from VXML gateway causes the PC to adopt different voices for different toys.
