abstract | A succinimide dispersant compound comprising the reaction product of (i) a hydrocarbyl carbonyl compound, such as hydrocarbyl substituted succinic anhydrides, hydrocarbyl substituted succinic acids, and esters of hydrocarbyl substituted succinic acids, (ii) a polycarbonyl compound having at least three carbonyl acylating functions, such as citric acid, ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid, diethylene triamine pentacetic acid and esters thereof, and (iii) a primary amine moiety of a polyamine, such as propylene diamine, butylenes diamine, diethylene triamine (DETA), pentaethylene hexamine (PEHA), hexaethyleneheptamine (HEHA), dipropylene triamine or tripropylene tetramine. Also disclosed is a process for forming the succinimide dispersant compound, a polyamine polyamide intermediate compound formed by reacting a polycarbonyl compound having at least three carbonyl functions with a primary amine moiety of a polyamine, a polyamine polyamide succinimide, a lubricating composition comprising a base oil and the succinimide dispersant compound, a method of reducing deposits on a lubricated surface, comprising using the lubricating composition, a method for improving the suspension sludge comprising providing to a combustion system the lubricating composition, a lubricant additive package composition comprising the succinimide dispersant compound, and a fuel composition comprising a base fuel and the succinimide dispersant. |
