titleOfInvention Expandable connection with dual material melted insert
abstract An expandable tubular and method comprises a first tube 205 having first threads 210 and a second tube 215 having second threads 220. An insert 225 is coupled to one of the threaded portions within the connection. The insert is heated so at least a portion is melted and then allowed to solidify within the threaded connection. The insert comprises an inner core (305, fig 3) comprised of a first material and an outer layer (310, fig 3) comprised of a second material. The first material has a higher melting point than the second material. The insert may comprise a layer of flux (315, fig 3). The insert may be fabricated from brass, bronze or tin among other materials. The insert may be ring shaped. The insert may be heated by induction coils 405.
