titleOfInvention | Antenna with fluid dielectric |
abstract | An antenna comprises an electrically conductive electrode 2 provided with an insulating substrate comprising a fluid having a relative permittivity greater than 10. The antenna may be connected to an electronic circuit 3 and may be used as a medical implant, to provide a small antenna of high efficiency. Electrode 2 may be printed on either the internal or the external surface of an enclosure 1 filled with the fluid, which may be insulating and comprise a liquid such as distilled or de-ionised water. Enclosure 1 may comprise a sealed balloon having an external surface that is impervious to the fluid and to bodily fluids, to which it may also be inert. Electronic circuit 3 may be disposed within the enclosure (fig 2, 1) and may be sealed within a further enclosure (fig 2, 4), itself within fluid (fig 2, 5). |
