abstract |
A nutritional composition comprises a source of tryptophan and further comprises one or more components selected from the group consisting of: a caseinate; magnesium lactate; magnesium gluconate; zinc lactate; and zinc gluconate. The source of tryphtophan may be the free amino acid, or a protein such as whey protein or alpha-lactalbumin. The nutritional composition may be a beverage or a food product. Athletes or active people undertaking intensive exercise may suffer from increased protein oxidation which may cause muscle wastage and disturbed sleep. If the nutritional composition is consumed within one hour of going to sleep it may help to prevent these problems. |
