titleOfInvention Swab with a container for evidence preservation and drying
abstract A preservation apparatus for evidence samples, the apparatus comprising a hermetically sealable container having means to suspend a sample in humidity exchange with air held within the container and a drying agent to dehumidify the air held within the container in order to act as a sink for humidity exchange in order to markedly dry the sample. The container may be formed by a jar 2 with a lid 3 containing a swab for sampling 5 suspended on a stalk 6. Desiccant 7 is also provided in the jar. A gauntlet (31) may be provided so that the part of the stalk bearing the swab can be withdrawn into the gauntlet by an amount limited by scabbard (33) to further protect the swab as seen in figures 3a, 3b.
