titleOfInvention | Inks for printing indicia, and detection systems therefore |
abstract | An ink composition for printing indicia e.g. barcodes, onto a substrate e.g. mailpieces, comprises a fluorescent pigment and an opacifying agent. The fluorescent pigment preferably comprises first and second pigments having respective first and second different excitation wavelengths. The ink may further comprise a wetting agent, water and resin. The ink is preferably printed using an ink-jet printer. Also shown is a method of detecting indicia on a substrate comprising illuminating the substrate at first and second different excitation wavelengths and detecting fluorescence of said indicia at a third wavelength. |
