abstract |
An instrument adapted to be used in the treatment of vertebral body compression fractures for reducing deformity, by returning the upper portion of a collapsed vertebral body to its original shape. It comprises an elongated rod-shaped body, a grip section on its proximal end and a pushing section provided on its distal end. The pushing section is inclined relative to the main body and the contact surface has irregularities for preventing slippage. The instrument is part of a set of instruments and is to be used in combination with a first instrument for widening a working path, a second instrument for inserting filler into the vertebral body and a third instrument for impacting the filler, whereby the deformity reducing instrument is used between the first and second instruments. |
