abstract A depositor comprising an outer component (56 or 68) and an inner component (60 or 64) which moves within the outer component (56 or 68) to effect successive deposits of food or other material. The said outer component (56 or 68) comprises a resiliently yieldable material, in such a manner that a seal is maintained between the said resiliently yieldable material and a surface of the said inner component (60 or 64) whilst the said components move relative to one another, at the same time affording a degree of float to allow for misalignment between the inner component (60 or 64) and the outer component 56 or 68). The inner and outer components may both be made from a resiliently yieldable material such as polyurethane. The inner component may be a piston or a rotary part of a valve and the outer component may be a cylinder or a body of a rotary valve.
