titleOfInvention Open-loop drilling fluid homogeniser
abstract An open-loop drilling fluid homogeniser has fluid inlet 5 adapted to receive a water-based fluid and an expanded tubular pipe portion 10 which produces a non-clogging homogenized drilling fluid at a high throughput, in an open-loop process. Fluid outlet 6 outputs the homogenised fluid. Cutting means 1a, 1b, 1c, 2, or 3, shearing means 15, 16, & 17 and filtering wall baffles 21-23, combine to homogenise and filter the fluid. The drilling fluid homogenizer may be coupled in series with a closed-loop designed drilling fluid system and is adapted to homogenize water-based drilling fluid and other drilling fluid types, such as, synthetic drilling fluid during drilling operations on demand.
