titleOfInvention | Travelator with at least two parallel belts running at different speeds |
abstract | A passenger transport travelator comprises at least two moving belts 3A, 3B, running generally parallel with each other, at different speeds and a fixed platform 7 adjacent to the belts 3A, 3B providing at least one boarding region and one alighting region. The travelator may feature three belts 3A, 3B, 3C, possibly in a continuous or endless loop. Each belt 3A, 3B, 3C may comprise interlocking flights supported by, and moving on a fixed rail. Each flight may run on bearings and be kept in position on the rail by spring loading. Electrically driven motors may be used to drive the belts via suitable friction rollers. The apparatus may be used to make the boarding and alighting or travelators easier by providing one fast moving belt for normal transportation, and one slower belt for moving onto / off of the travelator. |
