abstract A probe for analysis of proteins by laser desorption/ionisation (MALDI) mass spectrometry, comprising a surface comprising streptavidin, avidin or neutravidin is disclosed. The probe is used to capture proteins carrying a biotin tag. The probe may be in the form of a protein array. Methods are provided using the probe to identify proteins, and to analyse their function and structure. The invention also provides a scalable MALDI target volume sample loading kit and a MALDI target adaptor device.
