titleOfInvention | An electrolytic capacitor with non_conductive particles at the dielectric/electrolyte interface |
abstract | An electrolytic capacitor with reduced leakage current (LC) and equivalent series resistance (ESR) comprises, an anode body 11; a dielectric layer 12 formed over the anode body 11; non-conductive particles 100 dispersed across at least a part of the dielectric layer 12; an electrolytic layer 13; and an anode 14. Said non-conductive particles 100 (for example particles of silica, titanium oxide or silicon carbide) improve the LC and ESR characteristics at surface defects 121 on the dielectric layer 12. Said electrolytic layer may comprise an electro-conductive polymer (for example a polymerised pyrrole or thiophene). Said polymer may further contain electro-conductive particles 141 of the same material as the cathode 13 (or for example tin oxide, zinc oxide, or graphite). Also disclosed is a method of manufacturing an electrolytic capacitor of this construction (fig. 3 not shown). |
