titleOfInvention | An improved process for the manufacture of celluloid-like masses from the esters or ethers of cellulose |
abstract | 238,253. Romahn, A. Aug. 9, 1924, [Convention date]. Plastic compositions containing cellulose esters, ethers.-Esters or ethers of cellulose are kneaded with a volatile solvent and a non-volatile gelatinizing agent, and the mass is worked up at a temperature at which the volatile solvent evaporates quickly. According to an example, 75 kg. of nitro cellulose containing 25 per cent alcohol, is kneaded with 25 kg. of acetanilide in 60 litres of alcohol, and the plastic mass is passed through rolls heated to about 90‹ C. for about 20 minutes. The mass is then worked as usual. |
