titleOfInvention Emergency rescue aid using mobile phones
abstract A mobile phone system is used to facilitate emergency search and rescue of victims trapped or buried by avalanches or other disasters. A survivor 52 uses mobile phone 54 to dial an emergency service thus sending an emergency request to the mobile phone network to broadcast an emergency alert message to all other mobile communication devices in the same cell or sector. In response all these other mobile communications devices each output an emergency alert response such as a very loud audible tone or rf beacon signal. This signal allows victims carrying mobile phones to be located.
