An electronic insect exterminator device |
abstract |
An insect exterminator device consists of a housing (1), an electrified grid (3) surrounding a lure (6), the grid having openings or passages into which the insect may pass, and a power supply (4) which in use supplies an a.c. voltage of more than 1000V to the grid at a frequency and power density sufficiently high to kill insects adjacent the electrified grid through heat generated in the insect by the electrical energy emanating from the electrified grid. The openings or passages in the electrified grid are preferably arranged to taper or get smaller towards the lure. The device can kill insects without releasing contamination from dead insect into the surroundings. |
